Shipping policy
Shipping
Where we ship
Australia only, for now.
Rates
- Standard, tracked: $9. Free on orders of $50 or more.
- Express, tracked: $12. Free on orders of $100 or more.
Order value is what you pay for the pins after any discounts, before shipping. Every order is tracked, whatever's in it. There's no untracked option.
Dispatch
Orders are dispatched from Melbourne by the end of the next business day. Business days are Monday to Friday, not counting Victorian public holidays. If that's ever going to slip, there'll be a notice on the site before you order, not an apology after.
You'll get a tracking number by email once your order has been dispatched. Tracking won't show any movement until Australia Post scans the parcel in, usually the same day or the next.
Delivery times
We use Australia Post. The times below are their published estimates, counted in business days from the day after dispatch. They're estimates, not promised delivery dates. Once a parcel is lodged, Australia Post controls the delivery timetable, but if something goes wrong we'll deal with it as set out below.
- Standard: 2 to 4 business days within Victoria, 3 to 6 business days interstate. Regional and remote addresses, and Western Australia and the Northern Territory, can take longer.
- Express: next business day between eligible postcodes, which cover most of the capital cities (not Darwin, and only the CBD in Perth) and some major centres. Everywhere else Express is still the faster service, usually 1 to 3 business days, but not next day.
Express shortens the time in the post. It doesn't change dispatch, which is the same for every order. If an Express parcel arrives later than Australia Post's delivery estimate for your postcode, email us and we'll refund the Express shipping charge you paid.
Australia Post's delivery time calculator gives the estimate for your postcode, and that's the number we go by. Things slow down before Christmas and around public holidays.
Your address
We send to the address entered at checkout, so check it. If you spot a mistake, email hello@idledriver.com.au straight away. We can fix it if the order hasn't gone to Australia Post. PO boxes and parcel lockers are fine.
No signature is required. If no one's home, Australia Post will either leave the parcel somewhere safe or take it to a post office for collection.
If it's late or missing
Delivery estimates are estimates. A parcel a day or two past one isn't lost yet, and the tracking usually says why.
Email hello@idledriver.com.au any time tracking looks stuck. If an order hasn't arrived 10 business days after dispatch, we lodge an enquiry with Australia Post. If it hasn't turned up within 5 business days of that, we treat it as lost and you choose a replacement or a full refund. A replacement works the same way as for a faulty pin (see Returns and refunds): same design with a different edition number for a numbered pin, same colour for an open edition, and a refund if it's sold out.
If tracking says delivered and it isn't there, check the letterbox, the usual hiding spots and the neighbours. Then email us as soon as you can, ideally within 7 days, because Australia Post's trail goes cold quickly. If they confirm it went to the wrong place, we'll replace it or refund you. If their records show it was delivered to your address, or left where you asked, the delivery is complete and the parcel is yours from there. If you think something has still gone wrong, email us anyway and we'll look at it with you.
If a parcel comes back to us
If a parcel comes back because the address entered at checkout was wrong, or it wasn't collected from the post office, we'll email you. You can pay the postage to send it again, or we can refund the order less the cost of the first trip ($9 Standard, $12 Express). That applies even if the order qualified for free shipping, because the postage was spent either way.
Damaged in the post
This is covered on the Returns and refunds page. In short, send a photo and we'll fix it.
